Backend Developer (Full Time)

Bixlers is currently looking for a web-savvy Full Stack Developer to join the Bixlers team in Montreal, who will work with dynamic and passionate cross-functional teams from Creative and Marketing, to Customer Experience and Product, to help develop and maintain an exceptional shopping experience on our website.

As a Full Stack Developer, you are passionate about high quality software development and solving tough problems with creative code. Our ideal candidate is detail oriented, a good communicator, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

You will be helping to drive the direction of technology, strategizing on how to implement new features and practices. You will also help introduce new tools and paradigms to the company in line with emerging best practices and the latest technology trends.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Work cross-functionally with other teams from Product Management to customer experience to gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs.
• Working to reliably and consistently release code to production, aiming to constantly reduce the amount of time from initial ideation to production release.
• Architect new projects and services. As well as maintain multiple projects with modern stack using functional and declarative code.
• Troubleshooting real-world production issues under fire.
• Fixing bugs fast and taking your time to solve hard problems well - knowing the balance is key.
• Ability to build custom Shopify themes from the ground up
• Implement new features or improve UI/UX on existing Shopify themes
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams
• Support the planning and scoping of new features and projects
• Provide input on a range of topics, from accessibility to performance
• Contribute to internal documentation and shared code libraries
• Analyzing code segments regularly.
• Troubleshoot, test and maintain code and ensure it is optimized, performs well and is high quality.

Qualifications:

• Deep working knowledge of Shopify 2.0 platform
• Hands on experience with front and Shopify backend web development – Bootstrap 5, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, Liquid, JavaScript, responsive design concepts
• Other Shopify most-used languages an asset— Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Java/JEE, Node.js, PHP, Python, React or React Native, Golang, Kubernetes
• Experience with relational databases & SQL
• Ability to write and follow detailed SOPs
• Familiarity with Theme CLI and Github
• +5 years of experience as Full Stack Developer
• Advanced level use of MS Excel
• You communicate well and with concision
• Experience with Containerization tools
• Solid experienced working on distributed architecture systems
• Strong understanding of web services performance
• Understanding of agile software development lifecycle fundamentals
• Ability to work autonomously, seek information where needed, prioritize and meet deadlines

Additional qualifications are an asset:

• Experience with feature flagging
• A/B testing
• Experience with queues
• Some test frameworks
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js or React
• Familiarity with WCAG and accessibility best practices
• Familiarity with performance testing and optimization
• Familiarity with SEO best practices
• Familiarity with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, GTM
• Familiarity with CRO and related tools such as Google Optimize
• Experience with Shopify API and SDKs

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $55,545.89-$114,693.05 per year

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
